I got my surname from my father. We , the Reszler’s or Ressler’s , belong to the Swabians , a German ethnical group . They were colonised in the Transylvania beginning 1712 .
Recently , I’ve been reading books and documents about our people - the Swabians - history. You must know , our people’s homeland is Wurtemberg - Germany .From there since 1712 till 1830 - a number of 2072 German families emigrated and established in the new country , in 35 villages - in a region named Szatmar County . In those times , Szatmar County belonged to Hungary but in 1918 the new border separated this region , so , two villages ( Vallay and Merk ) are now in Hungary , the others 33 in Romania .

But don’t think I got German origin only from my father. My mother’s grandmother was also 100% German. Her name was Elisabeth Dörner. The Dörner’s came also from Germany. First found in Bavaria, where the name came from humble beginnings but gained a significant reputation for its contribution to the emerging mediaeval society. They also had a family crest:

I calculated that I’m 37,5% German, 37,5% Romanian and 25% Hungarian.
